In the summer of 2018 I was selected to participate in the Trans-Atlantic Outreach Program by the Goethe Institute. The program takes teachers from the United States on a two week study tour through Germany with the goal of fostering inter-cultural dialogue, and increasing American teachers' abilities to instruct their students on issues related to modern Germany. My study tour involved a focus on Modern Germany and its link to the past. Visits to Dusseldorf, Wurzburg, Chemnitz, and Berlin gave a snapshot of how Germany is dealing with its history, and moving into the future.
